[Edit] Should pilots be armed? |
|
[Edit] Background and contextWhile this debate has existed for some time, it became particularly relevant in the aftermath of the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks against the United States. Many argued, if the pilots of the 9/11 planes had weapons, they could have repelled their terrorist assailants. In order to prevent future terrorist attacks of this kind, or hijackings and air-travel crimes, many argue that pilots should carry hand-guns. Others suggest that the risk of inadvertent errors with such weaponry are just as great as the possible benefits. |
