[Edit] Background and Context of Debate:Approximately 500 million to 1.8 billion people speak English globally. It is the official language in 53 states all over the world, it is the official language of the United Nations, European Union, NAFTA, NATO and many other international organizations and bodies. This begs the question: Would it be a good idea to establish English as the global language? Should everyone be able to communicate in English, should it become superior to other languages? |
