"Croatian president says Bosnian Serb entity 'based on ethnic cleansing'." BBC. 1 June, 2008 - Commenting on remarks made by Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik at the Serb National Council (SNV) convention in Zagreb on Saturday [31 May] and his statement to the Bosnian press, Croatian President Stjepan Mesic said on Sunday that "Dodik's statements are simply rude".
"He came to Croatia to lecture us and call on all Serbs who are uncomfortable here to come to live in Republika Srpska. This is impudent behaviour. It would have been more appropriate for him to call upon the expelled Bosniaks and Croats to return to their pre-war homes from which they had been expelled, because Dodik is well aware of the fact that Republika Srpska was founded upon ethnic cleansing," said Mesic.
Mesic also said he expected the SNV to distance itself from the statements made by Dodik, who also said today that "the founding of Croatia was based upon the biggest ethnic cleansing campaign since World War II".
