Supporting evidence
- BBC, "Religion & Ethics - Same-Sex Marriage: Procreation", accessed 02/24/07
- many children are not brought up in traditional family units
- many children are brought by only one parent and thus lack role models of each gender
- many children are badly parented in traditional family units
- people in same-sex marriages may well not have children, and should not be penalised by concerns about parenting.
- Marriage is currently legally allowed among societal menaces, making it hard to use quality of homosexual parenting as an argument against gay marriage:
- Scott Bistrup "Gay Marriage: The Arguments and the Motives" (2004) cites a protester as saying, "murderers, convicted felons of all sorts, even known child molesters are all allowed to freely marry and procreate and do so every day, with hardly a second thought, much less a protest, by these same critics [of gay marriage]."
