The IDEA Hall of Fame recognizes great figures in the history of advocacy and debate. A virtual pantheon honoring those who, during their lives, used advocacy skills to promote open society ideals. Initial inductees into the IDEA Hall of Fame will be historical figures, nominated by our wiki community. To see nominees, click here.
]Who to Nominate
Members to the IDEA Hall of Fame should be historical figures (i.e. dead people). While we know that there are many people today who are the living embodiment of all things IDEA stands for, we hope to recognize their achievements through an annual awards dinner. The first dinner will take place in July 2008, as part of the The People Speak: Youth Summit, that will take place at the United Nations.
Nominees should have, during their lifetimes, successfully advocated for positive social or political change. They should have done so relying primarily on the force of argument.
People are encouraged to nominate people for the Hall of Fame who may not be particularly well known but who nonetheless were
]How To Nominate Someone
To nominate someone for the Hall of Fame, you need to be a registered user of the IDEAWiki. If you are not already a registered user, click here.
Once you are logged into the IDEAwiki, to nominate a person click [Hall of Fame Nominiees|here] and go to the [Hall of Fame Nominees] document.
To edit that document, click the "edit" tab and adding your nominees name to that page.
Please put the person's name in alphabetical order by last name.
Please do not delete any other nominee from the page.

]Create an IDEAWiki Document for the Nominee
After adding the name of the nominee, is to create an IDEAWiki document for that person.
After you have entered and saved his or her name on the nominee page, the person's name should be listed as either a red or blue hyperlink. It will be blue if the person already has a document in IDEAWiki, and when you click you will be taken to that page and you. You should edit that page to make sure it is a nominee's page, as described below.
If the person does not already have a page, his or her name will appear in red. Once you click on the this hyperlink, you will be brought to a page with an empty edit box that which you can fill in with information about the nominee.
To make a page on this wiki an Hall of Fame nominee's page, you will need to paste into the top of the document the following text, substituting in the relevant information for your nominee:

At the bottom of the page you should add:

In between the top and the bottom you should provide sufficient information about the nominee to convey to others why this person belongs in the IDEA Hall of Fame. A good starting point might be to import the Wikipedia or the Simple English Wikipedia entry on that person.
]Supporting a Nominee
Once a person has been nominated, it will be up to our wiki community to support that nomination. Only registered users of this wiki can support a nomination. If you are not already a registered user, click here.
To support a nominee, users will need to go to the nominees page and click on the "discussion" tab. From the discussion page, click on the "+" tab and enter into the subject line "I support this nomination."
Be sure to sign your message by entering four tildes "Nselegzi 10:14, 31 July 2007 (EDT)" at the bottom of your post. You should give some reasons why you think this person deserves the support of others.
]Gaining Support for a Nominee
If you support a nominee, you should try to get others to support your nominee. Start a campaign (or several campaigns) to get as many registered users possible to support your favorite nominee (or nominees).
]Who gets in?
Persons nominated who receive the support of over 250 registered wiki users, will become members of the IDEA Hall of Fame.

Hall of Fame nominees: This is the list of current nominees that are awaiting your support. You may add your support for these figures, or you may nominate any other historical figure who you believe belongs in the IDEA Hall of Fame.
