Co-education a better way to learn
From Debatepedia
The question I am here to argue about today is whether co-education is a better way to learn? My dear friends, I think the answer is absolutely yes!!
Mind you, learning as I know it is not just rote-learning. Learning is what gives us the right attitude towards others and makes us who we are.
The human being, God’s most wondrous creation is divided in two genders. MEN and WOMEN……………
My friends, why do you think this division was made?? A superficial look will tell us that they have been created to maintain the rhythm of generation. A thorough look, however, will convince us that men and women were not created because one is more able and the other disabled. It is not so that one is stronger and the other weaker. Nor is it so that one is smarter and the other dumb. Two DIFFERENT kinds of people that God created are just that: DIFFERENTLY abled. We approach problems from different aspects, we evaluate them in different ways, we have different areas of expertise and hence, men and women were created that they could compliment each other so as to setup a beautiful harmony in this world.
For a moment, let us consider our own school. Think for a while that from tomorrow onwards, our school becomes co-ed. Gone. Gone are the days switch boards were broken, Gone are the days of vandalism, Gone are the days of abuses and reckless behavior. You know why? Because then, we will all have a reputation to protect!!
Let’s take another example; imagine there is a person who has always heard good things about chicken. He has grown up hearing it is delicious to eat but he has never been allowed to taste it. If you now leave this person in a restaurant full of mouthwatering chicken dishes, what do you think he will do? He will obviously go crazy over them and eat so much; you might actually find him in a hospital the next day.
Hmmm, now I wonder if that would have been the case had he been allowed to eat a little chicken everyday. Now if you followed what I just said, whether its CHICKEN or it’s CHICKS, the law stays the same!!
Jokes apart, how long are we going to live in the cosy comfy controlled environments called schools? For how long do you think we are going to live in environments that are boys only? Friends, like it or not, the world out there is really not all-guys. We will soon graduate out of schools and colleges and universities and the corporate world that awaits us is really not segregated. We will study and work with guys as well as girls in that world. Do we want ourselves to be prepared for whats to come or confused throughout our careers? The preparation begins now.
You know why co-education is so important? Because LIFE my friends is CO-ED. And in the words of John Dewey “Education is a social process. Education is growth. Education is, not a preparation for life; education is life itself”.
Thank you.
