Resolved: That the United States should implement universal health care modeled after the French system.

Immanency (status quo is failing)

-47 million Americans lack health care
-The U.S. speeds more that any other countries
-despite spending more than other countries, our health care is not good
-Administrative cost increase health care costs
-The cost of care is the number one problem
-The U.S. spends twice as much as France per capita on health care (but it should be noted
that France's system is still one of the most expensive in the world)

Affirmative Case: Viability based on Similarities in our Systems Similarities already existing in our health care and economic situations make the liklihood that the French system could aid that of the United States high. France has both private and government insurance that is normally provided by employers. It is not similar to the socialist systems of Britain and Canada because there are no waiting lists to see a specialists or have surgery (Source: NPR).
